NANTAIS , Russell William August 30, 1915 - January 3, 2015 Peacefully at the age of 99 years at Brouillette Manor. Predeceased by Monica Landry March 2, 1976 & Helen (Landry Beale) June 16, 2012. Dear "Uncle Dad" to Marny Beale, Cathy & Pat Cook, J.P. & Nancy Beale, Michael Beale & Beverly Beattie, Eleanor Beale, Beth & Bruce Lane, Theresa Beale & Mike Murphy and Willie & Judy Beale. Loving grandfather to 16 grandchildren, Patrick Eid, Alex & Stephanie Eid, Ann Marie & Joe De Luca, Patsy Beale, Ted & Kandice Beale, Tom & Alison Beale, Brendan & Angie Lane, Zachary & Amy Lane, Cooper & Kristie Lane, Dugan Lane, Christie Murphy, Michael Marino, Lauren Beale, Hillary Beale, Maxwell Beale, Winston Beale, and 20 great grandchildren. Predeceased by Stan & Jean Nantais, Clayton Nantais, Virginia & Micky McNeil, Shirley Hartigan. Survived by Lee and Madeline Nantais, Joanne & Joe Passa, Tom Hartigan, Geraldine (Gel) Robert, Audrey and Daryl Bondy and by many nieces and nephews. Russell founded Nantais Sports Shop in 1946. He was an avid baseball player and manager of the American Auto Wreckers team; Canadian Champions in 1946. Russ was a founding member of the Windsor Essex County Sports Hall of Fame and was inducted in 1992. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel 519-253-7234) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. at Banwell Rd. on Tuesday January 6, 2015 from 2 to 5 pm & 7 to 9 pm. Parish Prayers Tuesday at 7:30 pm. Relatives and friends will be received for visitation at Good Shepherd Parish (St. Gregory Site) 13789 St Gregory St on Wednesday January 7, 2015 from 9:00 am to 9:45 am for Words of Remembrance followed by Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. In kindness memorial donations may be made to Hospice Residential, Transition to Betterness, or to the Windsor Essex County Sports Hall of Fame (envelopes available at the funeral home).
