Obituary of Wasyl Maznyk

MAZNYK, Wasyl "Bill" It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wasyl "Bill" on October 26, 2014. Wasyl was born on July 17, 1922 in Domashiv, Ukraine. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Anna. He will be deeply missed by his daughters Mary Benoit and Natalie (Walt) Metulynsky. Cherished grandfather of Scott Benoit. He is survived by his younger brother Ivan Maznyk and predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister all in Ukraine. Wasyl was an active church and choir member at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church and a long time member of Zolota Zhoda Ukrainian Sr"s Windsor Branch. Wasyl or "Bill" to his coworkers was a dedicated employee and master gardener with the City of Windsor and left his mark at many riverfront parks including Alexander, Reaume and Coventry Gardens. He truly loved his community and church. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East on Wednesday October 29, 2014 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Panakhyda at 7:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join the family on Thursday October 30, 2014 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church (601 Lake Trail Drive) for funeral mass at 10 a.m. with the Rt. Rev. Father Eugene Halitsky officiating. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer"s Society or to the Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Fund.
