Obituary of Helen Macko

MACKO, Helen (nee Kost) Passed away suddenly, yet peacefully at The Villages of Aspen Lake on June 16, 2014 , at the age of 89 years. Loving wife of the late Paul Macko, (January 21, 2014) Beloved mother of Helen Binder (Ron), Dr. Sharon Macko (Rod Syer), and Paul Robert Macko (Debbie). Dear Baba to Anita (Rolf), Nancy, Jennifer, Carolyn, Robert, and Great Baba to Coral and Dexter. Dear sister of the late Steve Kost and his late wife Martha, and the late John Kost. Dear sister-in-law of Anne McWha, Julie Macko, Dr. Irene Macko, and the late Mary Bezerko. Dear cousin of Ann and Mike Bural. Surviving are many nieces and nephews. Helen was born in Viscovice, Slovakia and with the family move to Canada, settled in Montreal. She met and married the love of her life, Paul Macko in 1944. She and Paul would have celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary on May 14 of this year. Helen was a longtime and original member of St. Michaels Greek Catholic Church. Her passions, besides her family were cooking & socializing, particularly ethnic dances and get togethers here in Windsor. Her Grandchildren will miss not only her love and advice, but her "Baba Soup". The family wishes to acknowledge the care and compassion shown to Mom and family, by all of the staff at The Villages of Aspen Lake. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519.253.7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd., East on Friday June 20, 2014 from 2-5 & 7-9 pm. Panakhyda Friday at 7:30 pm. Funeral Service Saturday June 21, 2014 at 10:30 am in the Chapel. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
