Dear Caroline, I was deeply saddened to learn from Ed's successor at Chrysler, Rob Lackovic, about Ed's sudden passing. I can't imagine the sorrow that you and your family must be feeling at having lost Ed at such an unfairly young age. I extend my sincerest condolences to all of you. I will always have fond memories of Ed. In many ways, Ed was the perfect client, and perfect friend. As you well know, Ed was a gem of a man--in all the years I worked with Ed, I never heard him utter an unkind word about another person (even those whom I thought fully deserved an unkind word or two!). Beyond that, Ed was an ideal client pairing for me since, apparently, I like to talk a lot (so it has been observed by some) while Ed was a man of few words, to say the least, but a great (and patient, thankfully for me) listener. As such, our working relationship thrived--I talked endlessly and Ed listened attentively and kindly never told me to "shut up". I will also always remember fondly the very enjoyable times that I had with Ed and you at the Chrysler Tier One meetings that we attended in Scottsdale. If the old adage that "misery loves company" is true, then I hope that you and your family can derive some comfort from knowing that I, and everyone else who had the pleasure and good fortune to know Ed, miss him and share your loss. Take care and best wishes. Sincerely, Peter Pliszka
