Obituary of Elsa Piccinin

PICCININ, Elsa (nee Pagura) It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother and Nonna, peacefully at North York General Hospital on Monday March 10, 2014 in her 82nd year. Predeceased by her dear husband Rino (1984) and her parents Giovanni and Guiseppina Pagura. Will be greatly missed by her daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnne (Bob Poldon), Donna (David Craig) and Patricia (John Rocheleau). Nonna will be lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren Adam and Alex Craig and Suzanne, Bill and Jack Poldon and her canine grandson, Gilligan. She was so proud of them and all their accomplishments. Elsa will be remembered by her only brother Elio (Chiara) Pagura. She was sister-in-law to late Nella Piccinin, late Ivo (late Alba) Piccinin, Santa (late Gelsomino) Terziani, late Nello Piccinin, Antonio (late Clara) Piccinin, late Mario (Bruna) Piccinin and Amabile (late Franco) Mores. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom/Nonna was truly someone who could make something from nothing. Whether it was creating an amazing dinner from the most unlikely ingredients, sewing an article of clothing from the smallest piece of cloth possible or turning milk bags into crocheted mats for third world countries"these kinds of activities demonstrated her creativity, tenacity and determination. Many have been kept warm with her beautifully made blankets, have looked adorable in the sweaters that she knit and no Barbie dolls had more beautiful wardrobes than the ones that were fashioned for the dolls that belonged to her three daughters. We could always count on Mom/Nonna to light a candle for anyone who was unwell, traveling or writing an exam. And you better not leave the house without making the sign of the cross. Special thanks to the Rocheleau family and Adriana Santarossa who were always there for Mom. We also wish to thank Dr. Shetty, Dr. Horvath and the incredible Nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at North York General who lovingly cared for Mom and the three of us as we went through this final journey together. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, (Banwell Chapel) 519-253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. at Banwell Rd. on Friday March 14, 2014 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Our Lady of Atonement Church (2940 Forest Glade Dr.) from 9:30 am until time of funeral Mass at 10:00 am.
