Obituary of Paul Emilien Hamelin

HAMELIN, Paul Emilien Passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Windsor Regional Hospital (Met Campus) at the age of 79. Reunited with his beloved wife, the late Rita Marie (nee Maisonville) (April 2013). Loving father of Donna Meloche (Ed Perreault), Gilbert and Sandra Comtois, and Raymond and Bonnie Hamelin. Cherished grandfather of Amanda and Mike Potra, Stephany Comtois, Chantal Meloche, and Andrew Novak. Adored great grandfather of Calvin and Aubry Comtois. Dearest brother of Yvette Hamelin, Annette and Gaston Rivard, the late Edouard and the late Cecile Hamelin, Hector and Lucette Hamelin, the late Alfred Hamelin, the late Jeannette and the late Peter Cozma, Alphonse Hamelin, Mariette and Roy Trepanier, the late Armand and Nicole Hamelin, the late Andre Hamelin, and Real and Edith Hamelin. Paul will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Paul was retired after having worked for over 30 years as a transport car carrier with Allied Systems. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a very talented craftsman. Paul was a devoted family man. He will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather who always put the needs of others before his own. He was a strong man who battled his struggle with cancer to the very end and always maintained a positive attitude and love of life. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. There will be combined parish prayers and 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus prayers on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather at St. Clement Church (McGregor 9567 Walker Rd) on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Donations made to the Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation (Lung Cancer) in memory of Paul are welcomed and appreciated by the family.
