Obituary of Petar Sladic

SLADIC, Petar "Peter" Born October 7, 1944 in Mracin, Croatia. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Petar on February 25, 2014 at the age of 69 years. Petar was a man of great courage who most recently fought a valiant battle with leukemia in which he overcame and succeeded. Beloved husband and best friend to Maca "Mary" (nee Sekula) with whom he celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary on February 19, 2014. Loving and most devoted "Dadio" to Jure and wife Katie Sladic, Peter and Chantal Sladic, and Suzee Sladic. Predeceased by parents Petar and Mara Sladic. Dear brother to Branko and wife Maca Sladic. Adored uncle to Danny and wife Melissa Sladic, and Vesna and Roy Rosa, and their families. Petar was a faithful and devoted parishoner at St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church. He also was a retired employee of Chrysler Canada with over 34 years of dedicated service, and a member of Unifor, Local 444. Petar was a true inspiration to his family and friends. His unconditional love was the greatest gift any husband or father could give to his family. His pride and joy was being with his family and making sure that they were all looked after. A man with a a great sense of humour and determination, Petar knew all the right words to say to make sure that everyone would be left smiling. He will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519.253.7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral Service on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to honour Petar's life may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund or Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation.
