Obituary of James Alfred Bastien
BASTIEN, James Alfred Passed away peacefully, with his son Gregory by his side, on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Windsor Regional Hospital (Met Campus) at the age of 90 years. Beloved husband for 70 years of Laurette (nee Langford). Dear father of Veronica "Ronnie" Filby, Gregory, and Albert "Al". Loving grandfather of Matthew Filby (Nicole Clark). Cherished great grandfather to Andrew Clark, Dylan and Bradley Filby. Dear brother of Marcella Belcher. Predeceased by his sisters Rena Holder, Minnie Cote, Almeda, Florence and brothers Francis "Digs", Victor, Lawrence, Raymond, and Eugene. Predeceased by his parents Jacob "Jim" (1927), and his mother Rose (nee Durocher) (1955). Also remembered and missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews. James was a Veteran of W.W. II in Canada and the United Kingdom. He was a member of the Friends of Riverside Library, past president of Local 341, ECWU, and a member of the Greater Windsor Senior Citizens Center. Over the years, Jim was always very active in community events and he spent years enjoying the great outdoors and cottage life. A special Thank You to all of the PSW"s who helped with Dad"s personal care at the family home. Special Thanks to his son Gregory. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. There will be a Veteran"s Service under the auspices of the Windsor Veteran"s Memorial Service Committee at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In honour of James, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Diabetes Association are welcomed and appreciated by the family.
