Obituary of Florence Ann MacDonald

MacDONALD, Florence Ann (nee Campbell) Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the London Health Sciences Centre University Hospital at the age of 66. For Florence, family always came first and she is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bernie; her sons Raymond (Lori) and Allan; daughter Colleen; precious granddaughter Madison; brothers Finlay, John Angus (Eileen), A.J. (Juanita), Raymond, Francis (Mary); sisters Marion (Neil) Beaton, Donelda, Joan (Mike) Rankin; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Angus Joe and Catherine Campbell, and her sister, Geraldine (Allan) MacMillan, and brother-in-law, Fred Richards. Florence always embraced the positive side of life and taught Raymond, Allan and Colleen that the world is a good place with good people in it. Florence was extremely proud of the Cape Breton Island roots she shared with her husband. She fostered her gifts of caring and compassion at the Banwell Gardens nursing home, from where she retired in 2009. Florence was very accomplished in the kitchen, at the sewing machine and with paper tole and other crafts, but her greatest gifts were selfless love, laughter, generosity, patience and kind-heartedness that made all those around her feel as if they really mattered. Florence was a strong but quiet advocate of her Catholic faith. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home then to Most Precious Blood Church (1947 Meldrum) for funeral mass at 10 a.m. The generous gift of life, a liver transplant, received two and a half years ago enabled Florence to forge more lasting memories with family and friends. In honour of this, donations made to the Trillium Gift of Life are welcomed and appreciated by the family. Online condolences and cherished memories may be shared with the family at www.windsorchapel.com.
