Obituary of Kathleen Mary Gates

GATES, Kathleen "Katie/Kay" (nee Ripley) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother at age 76. Beloved wife of 49 years to Richard. Wonderful mother to Kelley Gates (Vancouver) and Corina Chyz (Windsor). Devoted and cherished Gramma to Trevor and Kalman Chyz. Survived by her beloved sisters Frances Bean (Bermuda) and Joan Taylor (England) and Families. She is also survived by her loving sister in-law Judy Raymond and family. Special "Ma" to Michelle Anderson Felton (Eddy) and Babette Bouffard. Special Gram to Kaleena Harris (Ryan Robinet). Special friend to Herb and Linda White (Stouffville) and Carole Robinson. At age 16 Kay began traveling the world. While in Germany; which she called home for many years, she met the love of her life and gave birth to her daughters before eventually settling in Canada in 1976. In 2005, Katie retired from Canada Post after 25 + great years. She leaves behind a host of dear friends throughout the world and a legacy of pure love of every child who came through her door. Although many will miss her terribly, she is now at peace. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 519-253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. at Banwell Rd. on Thursday January 16, 2014 from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday January 17, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Chapel. Cremation to Follow.
