Obituary of Lilla Hildur Meyer

MEYER, L. Hildur "Freddie" (nee Halverson) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on October 8, 2013, 11:50 a.m. at Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 87 years. Reunited with her husband of 55 years the late James Emery (2005). Loving and devoted mother to the late Randy (2007), Linda and Mick Happy, Greg and Janice Meyer, and Dennis and Shelley Meyer. Cherished Grandma to Kim and Denis Robert, Christopher Meyer and Tamara, Stephanie and Jason, Jamie and Shannon, Meighen and Dave Pluimers, Derek, Krystal and Jonny Rivard, and Leslie Weinz and Rod Drouillard. Loving great-grandmother to Owen, Kaelyn, Tylee, Paytyn, Taylor, Bridgette, Jordan, and Brooke. Reunited with her father Herman Halverson and with her mother Mathilde who passed away when Freddie was only 14 months old . Dear sister of Alphild and her late husband Tom. Predeceased by siblings Ragnar and wife Georgina, Harry and wife Nan, Frank and wife Nellie, Helena and husband Harold, and Evelyn and husband Jimmy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Freddie worked as a waitress at all the hot spots throughout the years and then retired from Curtis Printing after many years of service. Freddie enjoyed singing in the choir along with her husband at the Calvary United Church, being a part of the Clown Troop with the firefighters, and was a Veteran with the Navy during WWII. She also belonged to the Optimist Club of Windsor who changed their name to OptMisses and later to Nu-Options, and was a part of the Windsor Ambassadors. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. A Veteran's Service will be held under the Auspices of the Windsor Veterans Memorial Service Committee on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel. Interment to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In kindness, donations may be made to Transition to Betterness or Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation.
