Obituary of Paul Edward Hawkes

HAWKES, Paul Edward - It is with deeply saddened hearts that the family of Paul Hawkes wish to announce his death on October 5th, 2013 at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Windsor, Ontario, after a courageous struggle with illness, with his wife Connie at his side. Paul was born in Minto, New Brunswick on September 6th, 1937. He is sadly and forever missed by his loving wife Connie, his two devoted daughters Toby (John) Terlep of Salem, Wisconsin and Tracey (John) Tobin and his four grandchildren Jonathan, Grace, Harry, and Jayne all of Abbottsford, British Columbia, two sisters Myrna Campbell of Minto, N.B., and Leslie Phillips of Campbellton, N.B. Predeceased by sister Sharon Thompson and mother and father Cora and Willard Hawkes of Minto, New Brunswick. Paul was a graduate of the University of New Brunswick where he received his Bachelor of Science , Bachelor of Education and Master of Education degrees. He taught high school for 8 years and also served as a principal for a time in Riverview, N.B. before moving to Ontario where he taught science at Belle River High School for another 26 years. Paul loved the outdoors and always said you weren't fishing unless you were fishing salmon or trout in his favourite fishing streams in New Brunswick. He was also an avid bird watcher for many years. Paul loved travelling and did so with Connie for many years to both Wisconsin and British Columbia where he enjoyed wonderful times with his girls and their families. He was the best husband, dad and gramps that anyone could ever wish for. Paul was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Windsor, Ontario where he served his Lord and Saviour for many years. Resting at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 519-253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. at Banwell Rd. with visitation from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8th, 2013. Funeral service to take place in the Chapel with Pastor Stan Mantle officiating on Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to Grace Baptist Church or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario on Paul's behalf.
