Obituary of Stjepan Despenic

DESPENIC, Stjepan "Steve" It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Stjepan, born September 11, 1931 in Gorni Varos, Stara Gradiska, Croatia, our beloved husband, father and "Dida" on April 26, 2013 at Windsor Regional Hospital, Met. Campus, surrounded by his loving family. Loving and devoted husband of 51 years to Zorka (nee Paulic). Cherished father to Maria and Brad Janisse, Julie Spooner (1996), and Petar and Bozica (nee Rezler). Precious Dida to Steven, Luke, Julia, MaryRose, Clare, Martin, Monika, Joanna, Amalia, Stephen and Vanessa. Predeceased by parents Petar and Julka Despenic and siblings Janja Jandric, Duro Despenic, Martin Despenic and Manda Kukic. Dear brother-in-law to Danica Kalic and Pave, and Vinko and Jelena Paulic; all of Windsor. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Croatia. Steve immigrated to Canada in 1958 to Thompson, Manitoba. Steve moved to Winnipeg where he met the love of his life, his wife Zorka whom he married in 1961. Proudly together they raised three children in Winnipeg and Windsor which later became their home. Steve retired from Chryslers after 28 years of dedicated service. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church and a past member of the Parish Council, a member of U.K.H. of Canada and of Deseti Travanj, Winnipeg Branch. Visiting at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 2-5 and 7-9pm. Parish prayers at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund or to the Charity of your choice.
