FAIRBAIRN, Douglas Robert "Uncle Bob" Born May 14, 1927. Passed away peacefully on March 5, 2013 at the age of 85 years. Beloved husband of Josephine "Jo" (nee Ruggaber). Loving father of Jean Ann (Jim) Weldon and John Robert (Maureen) Fairbairn. Cherished grandfather of Dann Weldon (Jeanette), Dawn Morencie (David), Bill Weldon (Tammy) and Shawn Weldon (Melissa). Dear great grandfather of Cody Weldon, Tayler & Mackenzie Morencie, Jordyn-Leigh, Kennedy & James Weldon, Carter Weldon and Kassi & Ryan Sargent. Survived by one sister: Fay (Robert) Sparks of Port Hope, ON.;Sisters-in-law Gladys & Theresa; brother-in-law Clarence Ruggaber (Fran); sister-in-law Henriette Ruggaber and numerous nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by sisters Ruth (Roy) Barnes, Rose (Reg) Craig; brothers Art & Ray Fairbairn; brothers-in-law Nick (Ella-Mae) and Gord Ruggaber. A life-long carpenter, self- employed since 1964, Dad was well known in the area as an honest builder who wouldn't cut corners and always tried to please his customers, sometimes at his own expense. We are hearing from so many of you that he was always there with a helping hand, whether it was with cash out of his own pocket, a day or two's work, or "lunch on me", always with that oh-so-ready smile, and never a word to anyone about it. This just confirms our opinion that he was the best! In accordance with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place. We look forward to visiting and sharing memories with anyone who would like to come and spend some time with us for that purpose at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses ( 6870 Hawthorne Drive, Windsor, ON.) on Saturday March 16, 2013 from 1-3pm. At 3:00 pm Dad's memorial talk will begin, and everyone is invited to attend. If you would like to do something in Dad's memory, a hearing ear when one of Jehovah's Witnesses calls at your door would be most appreciated or a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Society. We and our mother would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Palliative Care Staff of Hotel Dieu Hospital, for the tender care they extended to Dad and us while he was there. They were, without a doubt, an immense comfort to us during one of the most difficult times of our lives. Shannon, from the 7th Floor, thank you so much: you are beautiful. Most special thanks go to Dr. John and Teresa Minardi for their assistance and compassion- you are special people. Our grateful thanks to all the Staff, past and present, at the Royal Marquis Retirement Residence for their kindness, compassion and assistance through this difficult time. To the residents who have been so kind to our mother (you know who you are!) a great big hug from Jean and John! Arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 519-253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. at Banwell Rd.
