Obituary of Glen Arthur Botham

BOTHAM , Glen Arthur February 16, 1925 - January 17, 2013 Passed away peacefully with his wife & daughter by his side. Beloved husband and best friend of 60 years to wife Blanche ( nee Cantalope ) , loving father of Leslie ( Gary Matte ) , Mark ( Bonnie ), Kent ( Patty and son Justin ) , Eric and Jeff. Proud grandfather of Garrison and Griffin Matte , Curtis and Jason Botham and David, Aaron and Sam Botham with whom he enjoyed countless games of cribbage while sharing his sense of humour, love of music and enthusiasm for numerous sporting events. As a very young man he joined the RCAF and after his training was stationed in England at the end of WW11. The best thing that ever happened to him was meeting and marrying his wife Blanche and raising their family of 5, first in Saskatoon , then Swift Current and finally in Windsor where he eventually retired after a distinguished 37 - year career, managing offices in those cities with Richardson Securities. Glen played saxophone and piano, loved music, especially Dixieland Jazz following many musicians in Canada and the US. He was also an avid sports fan (in particular of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Montreal Canadiens ) who monitored the CFL, NFL, OHL, NHL and MLB regularly as well as attending various games cheering on his grandsons. Glen and Blanche loved to travel but also took advantage of local events and visited their favourite riverfront parks all in the mild climate they so enjoyed here. He was part of a large extended family of siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews and wonderful friends especially the Matte family. Our dad planned well and took care of all the details to give us a nice easy life and he continues to take care of us now. So thanks dad, job well done, Rest In Peace. At Glen's request there will be no service, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made the HDGH Fund , No One Dies Alone or to the charity of your choice ( envelopes available at the funeral home ) . Arrangements entrusted to the Windsor Chapel Funeral Home ( Banwell Chapel ) 11677 Tecumseh Rd E. ( 519-253-7234 ) . You may share memories, photos or donations at www.windsorchapel.com
