Obituary of George Anthony Docherty

Docherty, George Anthony November 23, 1926 at Ford City, Ontario Passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on November 17, 2012 at Village Ridgetown. Loving and devoted husband to Margaret Rose Docherty for 62 years. Loving father to William (Debra) , John (Cynthia), Patrick (Patricia), Dan (Debbie), James (Dawn), Ann, and Edward (Celeste). Cherished grandfather of 17 grandchildren and dear great grandfather to 11 great grandchildren. Dear brother to Carol Hunter (late Gilbert), Jack (late Ruth), Tom (Jean), and Dan. Predeceased by Bill (Mary), Louise McRae (Peter), Jim (Beatrice). Survived by sister-in-law Lisa. Dear Uncle to many nieces and nephews. George was a Veteran of WWII, Chartered member of Sandwich East Legion, Board member of Sandwich East Twsp. 1960, Deputy Reeve of Sandwich East 1959 and a Charter Member of the Renaissance Club, as well as Chairman of the Ontario Housing Corp for 10 years. He also was a Member of Beach Grove Golf Club for over 40 yrs and a 3rd degree Bishop T. Kidd Council #4924 and 4th degree Dean Wagner Assembly over 60 years and Grand Commander with the Order of Alhambra from 1957-1959. One of his key interests in life was his involvement in Canadian Politics for many years. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME ( Banwell Chapel) 253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. (corner of Banwell and Tecumseh Rd.) on Monday November 19, 2012 from 7 to 9pm and Tuesday November 20, 2012 from 2 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm. A Veteran's service at 7:00pm under the auspices of the Windsor Veterans Memorial Services Committee followed by the 3rd and 4th degree prayers at 7:30pm (please note:Colour Guard to assemble at 7pm and the funeral home). Funeral Services on Wednesday November 21, 2012 at 11am in the Chapel. Cremation to follow.
