Dear family of Mr Longden, I would like to offer you my condolences. I am sorry to hear of William's passing. I always called him William because to me William seemed to suit him best. I have done a service every other Thursday at La Chaumire Retirement Home for the past 6+ years. I think William came to the services almost since the beginning. He seemed to enjoy our service very much. Like the others around our table he particular enjoyed a time we called "chuckle, chuckle". Always, before the service began, I'd share a couple jokes I would find in my travels. William would often assist me to bring other "less mobile" residents down to the service. He was a marvellous help. It didn't take long to realize William's passion for soccer and particularly the Manchester United club. The day I brought in the MU banner for him, his eyes lit up and with a big smile he proudly hung it on his door. My son enjoys many sports. When it comes to soccer MU is a favourite of his too. He told me this morning that MU won last weekend so I'm sure you're dad would be smiling. People move from one residence to another for a variety of reasons so I do enjoy whatever time I get to share with them. I was saddened when William left but he will always be fondly remembered. If I can be of any help to your family please don't hesitate to call. -- God bless, Rev. Phillip Rutledge St. Aidan's at Rivers Bend Belle River, ON 519-791-1742
