Obituary of Frederick George Welsh

WELSH, Frederick George It is with profound sadness that the family of Fred Welsh announce his passing after a valiant fight against cancer. He passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of his family on Sunday September 16, 2012 at the age of 80, one week shy of his birthday. He was the youngest child of the late Ross (1954) and Marie (2002) Welsh. Beloved husband of Donna Belland for 55 years. Loving best friend and devoted father of Bryan & wife Sandra of Glencoe,Ontario and Todd & wife Jane of Lakeshore,Ontario. Proud grandfather "Papa" of 6 grandchildren; Laura, David, Kevin and Jessica, Bryce and Micaela. Dear brother of Lou Welsh and the late Helen (2007), Louise Sheehan and husband Don. Son in-law of the late Donald (1981) and Lula (1991) Belland. Brother in-law of Joanne Hatfield and the late Bill Blair, Marlene Petrozzi, Donald Belland and the late Richard (Ricky) Belland (1979). Precious uncle of Lori Gelinas, and several other nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by many friends. Fred worked as a salesman, and retired with 29 years of service for Canada Packers/ Maple Leaf Foods. He was a brother of St. Andrew's Masonic Lodge No. 642 Windsor, and a member of the Associated Canadian Travelers (A.C.T.). Fred's abundant love and caring for family and others will be his everlasting legacy. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 519-253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. at Banwell Rd. on Wednesday September 19, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 6:45 -9 pm. Masonic service on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Funeral service on Thursday September 20, 2012 at 10:30 am in the chapel. Cremation to follow. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the John McGivney Children's Centre. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre, Dr. Gall and Hospice Windsor and most especially Mr. David Shaw R.N. of St. Elizabeth Health Care.
