Obituary of Mihailo aka Michael Stipic

STIPIC, Mihailo Michael Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on August 30, 2012 at the age of 92 years. Beloved husband of 61 years to Angela (nee Keca). Dear father of Dr. Desanka Stipic-Petrovic (Bozidar) of Grosse Pointe, Michigan and Milan Mike Stipic (Leslie) of Lakeshore Ontario. Beloved grandfather of Larissa, Julie, and Marko. Son of the late Marko (1941) and Marija (1986). Brother of the late Djuro and Vukasin of Belgrade, Serbia. Survived by brothers Branko, Milorad, Nikola and sister Desanka all of Belgrade, Serbia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family in Serbia, Canada and U.S. and his many friends. Mihailo started his life in the former country of Yugoslavia. He was the eldest of 7 children. He graduated from the Royal Yugoslav Military Academy, 66th class in 1940 in time to accept his commission as a lieutenant. Mihailo survived World War II, serving his country as an army officer and caring and providing for his mother and his 6 siblings after the death of his father in 1941. In 1945, expelled from his beloved country, he was moved to Italy where he served as a liason officer with the British Army. By 1948 he made his way to England where he met and married the love of his life Angela (Andjelka). On January 13, 1952, Mihailo and Angela arrived in Canada to start their new life together and to raise their family. He was a proud Canadian who raised his family with passion and love. Mihailo was a long standing member of the Grachanica Serbian Orthodox Church congregation, its choir and served the Serbian community and church in many capacities. He spent his working days at Chrysler Canada, retiring in 1986 from his position as a stockman. Mihailo"s last days were greatly eased by the attention and excellent care he received from Dr. Roy Diklich, Dr. David Cargill, The Hospice of Windsor, Ron Hood of Bayshore Medical and Joe Jutasi from St. Elizabeth, and all his other caregivers. Mihailo"s passion was his family and his faith. He was and always will be remembered as "AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN". E. at Banwell Rd. on Monday, September 3, 2012 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to gather at Grachanica Serbian Orthodox Church (1960 Meldrum Road) on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m. The Very Rev. Father Miroljub Todorovic and Very Rev. Father Rade Obsenica officiating. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens.
