Obituary of Maria Cvitkovic

CVITKOVIC, Maria "Maca" (nee Palaic) July 23, 1933 - May 4, 2020 86 years. It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving Mother and Baba, on May 4, 2020 at Hospice Residential Home, Windsor, with her daughters at her side. Reunited with her beloved husband Juraj "George" Cvitkovic (April 25, 2019). Cherished and adored mother "Mama" to Marianne Sladic, Georgina Gaggero and husband Robert; all of Windsor. Devoted grandmother "Baba" to Michael Sladic of Victoria BC., and Evan Gaggero of Windsor. Loving sister to the late Tomica Palaic. Dear sister in-law to Dragica Gunjila and husband Steve of Mississauga, ON., Katica Gidija and late husband Drago of Croatia. Adored aunt "Ujna" to Carolyn and Guy Musinka and children Matthew and Luka, Irene and Joe Buntic and children Emma and Josip; all of Mississauga, ON. Maria retired after many years of dedicated service as a seamstress and salesperson with Pennington's Clothing. Maria was a faithful and devout member of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Voltic, Dr. Rukavina, Dr. Bergeron and Dr. Cargill for their loving and compassionate care provided to Maria. A sincere thank you to Jaclyn Cordeiro, Bayshore nurse, Gina, and the PSW's, Anab, Marta and Heather for their warm and loving attention provided to our mother. Last, but certainly not the least, we wish to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff at Hospice of Windsor, especially Isabel, Tamerra, Melissa, Shelley, Tammie and Stella for going above and beyond in ensuring mom was comfortable and loved during her entire stay. A private visitation was held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. 519.253.7234 followed by burial at Windsor Memorial Gardens with Fr. Ljubo Lebo officiating. A memorial mass to celebrate Maria's life at St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church (1701 Turner Rd., Windsor) will be announced at a later date. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Maria's life, memorial donations may be made directly to the Hospice Residential Home, 6038 Empress St., Windsor, Ontario N8T 1B5. Condolences and cherished memories may be shared with Maria's family at www.windsorchapel.com. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario has instituted the following directive: "The new maximum number of people who can be at a funeral home at one time (not including staff) is 10 or fewer. This pertains to the entire funeral home."
