Obituary of Anthony Como

COMO, Anthony (Tino) Peacefully on April 2, 2013 at Hotel Dieu-Grace Hospital at the age of 93 years. Loving husband of Jeannette Como. Beloved father of Tina Hinsperger, Anthony Como (Lois), Tania Parete (Carlo) and predeceased by son David (DiGiacomo) Como. Cherished Nonno to Laura, Eric, Nicholas, Morgan, Vincenzo, Domenic and Sabrina. Predeceased by his parents, brothers and sister. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Windsor, Montreal and Michigan. Brother-in-law to Bill and Marion Anger, Charles Dalpe and Joseph Ranella. He served his country proud during World War II and was honoured for his bravery in assisting British soldiers. He immigrated to Canada in 1947 to join his family in Montreal. He moved to Windsor in 1950, initially teaching English to Italian immigrants at St. Angela Hall prior to teaching in the Catholic elementary school system. In 1962 he started his own business, A. (Tino) Como Insurance and Notary Public and continued to operate a successful business on Erie Street until his death. He was also an interpreter within the court system for more than 30 years. He was very active within the community, serving as a long-time member of the Caboto Club and the president of the Italian War Veterans Association as well as Past President of the Sons of Italy. He was dedicated to his family and was blessed with good health and a positive outlook on life that allowed him to continue working long hours after most people have retired. E. on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Services on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home then to St. Angela Merici for Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
