Obituary of Daniel Robert Newton
NEWTON, Daniel Robert Son, brother, husband, father, grandfather. Born in Fort Frances, Ontario, October 4, 1944. Passed away peacefully with his family at his side Sunday, July 22, 2012. A decorated soldier in the Vietnam War, he carried the flag of the Queensmen motorcycle club into combat and was integrally involved in the campaign for the installation of our local Canadian Vietnam Veterans Memorial. As a Canada Customs officer, Dan served at the Ambassador Bridge and Windsor Tunnel as well as in the Yukon, where he was superintendent for Beaver Creek, Pleasant Camp and Little Gold international crossings. Much loved and sorely missed. Special thanks to the staff at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital for their loving care and compassion. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 6 p.m. until time of combined Funeral Service and Veterans Service at 8 pm in the Chapel under the auspices of the Windsor Veterans Memorial Service Committee. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated by the family.
