To all the family and friends of Joe, I send my heartfelt condolences. Joe and I spent many hours in conversation about family. Whenever we had a meeting it was never about General Motors, it was always about our families. I found Joe to be not only intelligent and eclectic, but more importantly, down to earth and pragmatic. His head was squarely on his shoulders, his feet were on the ground and his heart was with the ones he loved most. I've only met one other person, in my lifetime, who was very similar to Joe and he too was a doctor ( Ph.D mech. eng.). I feel very fortunate to have spent time with Joe, it's made me a better person and it's broadened my thinking. If just a little bit of what he had rubbed of onto you, you surely reaped the benefit.
