Obituary of Angela Marie Edwards

EDWARDS: Angela Marie (nee Martel) Died peacefully in her sleep in Windsor on June 3, 2012, one week shy of her 84th birthday. Born in 1928 in Windsor, she was predeceased by her parents, Frederick Alphonse Martel and Marie Louise Quenneville (Toune), both of Pointe- Aux-Roches, ON, and her brother Frederique. Left to mourn her loss are countless friends and her large, noisy family. Angela had six children: Janice Anne Dean (Wayne Dean), Maggie Edwards (Larry Hugg), Paulah Dauns (Ralf Dauns), Christopher Edwards (Elaine Weeks), Michael Edwards (Jacqui Edwards), Maureen Elizabeth Paul; and was "Grandma Ange" to 14 grandchildren: Angela, Meghan, Renee, Andrew, Cameron, Jonathan, Rosalie, Shannon, Mike, Michelle, Lauren, Evan, Emily, Jennifer; as well as "Gigi" to her six great grandchildren: Chloe, Katie, Ryan, Braydon, Aiden & Zachary. Angela graduated as an RN from Hotel Dieu in 1949 and practiced her profession for more than forty years at Hotel Dieu, and at Metropolitan Hospital's burn unit and psych wards. She was known far and wide for her culinary prowess. Over the years, many people graced her table to celebrate her love of wine, great food, friendship and laughter. The family would like to thank staff at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital and Windsor Western Hospital Malden Centre Palliative Care Unit, and Seasons Retirement Residence in Amherstburg. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Monday June 11, 2012 from 2-9pm, prayers at 7:30pm. Funeral Service Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 9:45 a.m. from the Funeral Home, then on to Our Lady of Assumption Church for Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, Angela would appreciate if you opened a delicious bottle of wine and enjoyed it in her memory. Donations may be made to the Holy Family Retreat House Building Fund in Oxley, ON, (a place she felt most at peace and loved by her Retreat House family).
