Obituary of Remo Gardin

GARDIN, Remo It is with great sadness we annouce the passing of Remo on March 13, 2012 at the age of 85. Loving husband of 60 years to Nella (nee Giraldi). Dear brother to the late Renzo and surviving wife Vittorina Gardin of Windsor, Ada (the late Giuseppe) Simonato; Tarsilla (Adelino) Sut of Italy. Also survived by nephews Andy (Christine) Gardin and Elmer Schincariol of Windsor, as well as many nephews and nieces in Italy, Australia and the U.S. Much loved Zio of Kevin and Michelle. Remo was a founding member of the Fogolar Furlan Club of Windsor and a champion boccia fila player. His working years were spent as a bricklayer. He added his beautiful resonating bass to the Fogolar choir, the Alpini choir and the Italian choir. A recipient of the best instructor award for his service with the Alpini Italian army, his zeal for the outdoors included numerous annual hunting trips and early morning fishing outings. He also had a talent for preparing meats and spent many hours stuffing and curing salami for family and friends. Our Zio was a colourful boisterous character with a huge heart and a penchant for storytelling. We will miss him more than words can say. Funeral Service Friday March 16, 2012 at 8:45 am from the Funeral Home to St. Angela Merici Church for Funeral Mass at 9:30 am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
