Obituary of Pavel Babec

BABEC, Pavel With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Pavel at the age of 86. Pavel was a loving husband to Christina for 46 years. Predeceased in Ukraine; parents Michael and Maria, his five brothers and sisters, Ivan, Myron, Maria, Vasylyna and Anna. Predeceased by his father in-law Fedor and mother in-law Olena. He will be sadly missed in Canada by his brothers and sisters in-law Taras and the late Paul, Marusia, Anna, Natalie and her late husband Michael Berthiaume. Leaving behind his nephews Bohdan and wife Debbi and their sons Paul and John, Danny and Michael and niece Vera and husband Jeff and step niece Kelli. Will be missed by his best friend Ed. Pavel was a teacher and principal for St. Vladimir's Ukrainian school. Pavel is a veteran of WWII as a Colonel in the Czech Army. He was sentenced to death by the Czechoslovakian Communist Regime and ended up serving over 17 years in communist prisons. E. on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Panakhyda at 7:30 p.m. Visiting continues on Monday, September 19, 2011 from 10:00 a.m until 10:30 a.m then to St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral for Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens.
