Obituary of Ivan Jakovcic

JAKOVCIC, Ivan It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Husband, Father and "Deda" on March 23, 2011 at W.R.H. Met Campus surrounded by his loving family and friends at the age of 66. Beloved husband of 39 years to Ruza "Rose" (nee Katkic). Loving and devoted father to Rosemary Plesa and husband Dan, Michael Jakovcic and wife Renata, and David Jakovcic. Cherished "Deda" to Magdalena, Adam, Tiana, Danijela, Ryan, Nikolina and Ante. Dear brother to Kate Zunic and family of Slovenia. Predeceased by parents Mijo and Marija Jakovcic; brothers Miho, Josip and surviving wife Katica, Franjo, Janko and surviving wife Barka, and Miko and surviving wife Barka; sisters Magdalena and surviving husband Mirko, and Ane, and all of their families. Dear brother in-law to Franjo Katkic and wife Mira, Barka Katkic and late husband Ivan, and Anka Vulakovic, and all of their families. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Croatia. He will be sadly missed by his many friends. Ivan was retired following many years of dedicated service, as a mechanic with Wolverine Freight Systems and was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church. Visiting at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at 4 West (W.R.H. Met Campus) and Dr. Alam, Dr. Giddings, and Dr. Laura Voltic for their compassionate care provided to Ivan and his family. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Hospice of Windsor - Essex County or St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
