I was so sad to learn of Tony's passing. We worked together at Procter & Gamble over twenty years ago; Tony was my direct manager and was such a wonderful support to me. He was great fun to work with and I remember him with affection. I used to tease him about his 'rotating shrine' of photos of his little "AFL". You will be in my thoughts and prayers this week. Warmest regards, Christine

My sincere condolences on Tony's passing. I knew Tony from when we were sales reps in the Maritimes together back in the 1980's. We had just recently gotten back in touch after I returned to Canada. Although Tony had obviously been through some trying times, his positive attitude and love of life (and Joan) were a great reminder of the fun we had in Halifax. His positive attitude will be missed in the world.

Joan, I was deeply saddened by the news of Tony's passing. He gave me the strength to leave Procter and Gamble and begin my career as an entrepreneur. His guidance and coaching was invaluable. He was always there to lend advice and I will always remember our trip to Germany to conduct some business, see Tom and Doreen and share a lot of laughs together. He always treated me and everyone with a high level of respect regardless of who they were or what position they held. Now that he is in the loving arms of god, my heart goes out to you, Allison and Eric. I know how much he loved you and was so proud of his children. Joan, I have experienced the same tragedy with the passing of my wife and I know what you must have gone through. The role of caregiver is indescribable and you have been truly remarkable through this awful period of time. If I can ever provide any help, please let me know. Just know that I'm always here for you and just a phone call away. Norm

My sincere condolences to the family. For anyone who knew Tony, this is a very sad time. Tony hired me out of Saint Mary's University as a student back in 1988, and changed the path of my life. He taught me as a young man that you need to have both focus and fun in business. With his stories about P&G, he made me want to work for them...and I did for 12 years before going onto different challenges in my careeer. But, it was Tony that gave me the start, and the initial drive & desire to accomplish wonderful things in life, and to meet unbelievable people along the way. Thank you Tony...and God Bless.

I was very simply stunned this morning to have read and been informed of the passing of a friend, Tony LaSorda. Tony and I first met when I was at Mattel Canada back in the 80s. Years later he served on a Board that I asked him to be a part of. Much later I asked if he wouldnt mind advising us at SHNIER, as to what we might better do, to at that time, improve our operations. More recently I introduced Tony to my two sons, after which he voluntarily opened career contacts for our oldest Ted. Shortly afterward I met Tony and his partner Ken Pickthall of Encore for lunch, where I was able to finally return a favour, opening some contacts for him. Our final meeting was for breakfast in Oakville. As you can tell, Tony always answered the call to service, never shying away from a challenge or a favour asked. That said, he was always pragmatic, truthful and wise. Tony was also one of the smartest, kindest, most sensitive, loyal, accomplished and generous individuals I have ever known. He was also so positive, so courageous and charitable both spiritually and materially. To his family, know that he was one who touched many and truly graced the world with his presence. He indeed left it a better place than when he found it and all of us are that much richer for having known him. May God bless you Tony and your entire family. Joan and Family, I was very saddened to hear the news of Tony's passing from Laura. Tony was a great leader. I have many wonderful memories of the beginnings of S&MG and his passion for the business, for life and for his family. I learned a lot from Tony. In particular I remember when I had only been at S&MG for a few weeks and I wasn't very organized with my expenses. Tony called me into his office and made me sit through how he organized his expenses and his daily tracking. I was amazed that as the president he had taken the time to show me this important part of keeping business in tact. It's a lesson I've never forgotten. Of course there were many more. I send to you my condolences and appreciation for the time I had with Tony. Rosemary Fernandes-Walker (AKA Bodi)

Hi Tom: It is very sad to contact you under these circumstances. I received yesterday's Free Press today because the deliverer had vehicle problems yesterday. I am so sorry to hear about your twin brother. By what I read in the paper, it sounds like he had similar ambitions, intelligence and the admirable work ethics that you possess. It must be devastating to Tony's immediate and the entire extended family. You, Doreen and the rest of your family all have my DEEPEST CONDOLENCES. As a side note, I have followed your career every step of the way. What a ride! To this very day I relate examples of things I learned from you when we worked together. Particularly when we are involved in activities that are not directly value added for the customer. I fully understand how you earned the recognition of "Dean of Lean". I am in my 43rd year with General Motors and since I am 60 years old, I will probably remain working until I reach the age of 62 as I enjoy my job at Service Operations. I had a 3 year ISP assignment with Opel in Germany where I established a field technical support group for GME (GMIO at that time). It was a very enjoyable and growth experience both personally and professionally. Many thanks for the note you sent that was read at my 30th anniversary party while I was there. I wish you well during this tough time and for the future. Sincerely, Terry

I would like to send my condolences to Joan, Allison and Eric on the passing of Tony, a wonderful husband, father, brother and son. I knew Tony when we started out in Grade School (Most Precious Blood - Somme between Central and Meldrum), it is nice to see that the building still stands. When you say that Tony and Tom were inseperable you are so right - they were tied together at the waist. We travelled together through grade school Gr. 1 - Ms. Brigadere, Gr. 2 - Ms. Fowler, Gr. 3 Mr. Lane, Gr. 4 Ms. Brigadere, Gr. 5 Mr. Dupuis, Gr. 6 Mr. Primeau, and then on to St. Alexander School. I hope some of these names bring up some wonderful memories. One thing always sticks out in my mind, when the teacher, on the first day of school, would ask Tony and Tom to smile so she or he could tell them apart----Tony had a chipped tooth! Then they were put into seperate rows. The Lasorda Family was always thought of in the highest regard and this, I hope you..Joan, Allison and Eric will always keep with you. Again my condolences and my prayers are with you. Chris Punga (Welacky) (the little girl with the curly hair)

Dear Joan: It was with great shock that Fred notified me of Tony's passing and I am sorry for your loss. The cottage syndicate was a unique time in our life and I will never forget Tony's high fiving and enthusiasm when we all agreed to be cool and low key in front of the vendor! Sorry that we could not be in Windsor to support you and the family but hope it was a magical celebration of his life. Please take care and hopefully we will cross paths through Fred at some point to allow me to give my condolances personally. xoMichael
