Obituary of Pavao Žagar

Pavao (Pavle) passed away peacefully on the morning of March 14 in his 79th year. Predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years Marija Žagar (nee Zbiljski). Cherished Father to Lidia and Peter Vrhovšek, Ivana and Robert Desilets, Nadalie and Karl Kokić, Josip and Andrea Žagar. Adoring Dida to Claudia, Lukas, Jakob, Victoria, Adam, Navia, Gabriel, Vincent, and Mia Žagar who is blessed to receive her Dida’s love in Heaven. Predeceased by his parents Manda (Pavičić) and Ivan Žagar. Loving brother to the late Marica and Ivan Juračić, the late Josip Žagar, Manda and Braco Munjas, Ana and the late Ivica Krpan and the late Josipa and Slavko Grabovac. Loving brother-in-law to Ankica (Ivan) Ečimović, Vikica (Pajo) Fadljević, Slavica (Jožef) Kovačić, Rezika (Anton) Koren, Vilim (Ines) Zbiljski, Štef (Božica) Zbiljski, all of Europe. He was also the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews in Canada and Croatia. Pavle was born in Lovinac, Lika, Croatia. He began to work as a professional truck driver in Croatia and when he moved to Canada in 1970, he started working at Bendix and finished his career at General Motors. In his spare time Pavle was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler and a longtime member of “Društvo Hrvata Like,” Hrvatsko Zemljište in Windsor, and St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church. He was very proud of his Croatian Heritage and loved being involved in all aspects of the Windsor Croatian Community. Pavle was an extremely hard working, kind, and generous man who loved to socialize, tell stories and greet everyone with his firm handshake and a drink to good health. He will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7234 on Thursday March 19, 2020 from 4-6pm ONLY. Private family Service and interment to take place at later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church or Crkva Sv. Mihovila u Lovincu.
