Obituary of John C. Gregg

GREGG John C. "Jack" On Sunday August 29, 2010, Jack passed away at Windsor Regional Hospital Centre-Metropolitan Campus, at the age of 80 years. Beloved husband of 55 years and best friend to Maxine (nee Leitch). Loving father of Brian and wife Laurie; and Tim and Neil. Devoted "Pup" of Heather and Chris. Son of the late Chris and Ciss Gregg. Brother in law of the late Helen Goodwin, and her surviving husband John, of Florida. Jack spent 36 years with the Windsor Fire Department-retiring as District Chief. In the 1950's and 60's, he was one of the best fastball pitchers in the Civic League, pitching for both the Windsor Fire and Police Departments. Jack was a Director for the Essex-Kent Boys Golf Association for 35 years, and was the originator of the Junior Golf Program at Canard Valley Golf Club. Jack also coached the original Windsor Oldtimers Hockey team for 20 years. As an avid golfer, he was proud of the hole-in-one that he made at Dominion Golf Club. In addition, he was an avid bowler, and a longtime Cub leader at St. Georges Anglican Church. With all of his interests, his main focus was the love for his family, and his friends, who are privledged to have known him . The family would like to extend thanks to the Doctors and staff at Windsor Regional Hospiatl ICU. At Jack's request, cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will take place at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME 1700 Tecumseh Rd., East on Tuesday August 31, 2010 from 7-9 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday September 1, 2010 from 10:00 am until time of Memorial Service to celebrate Jack's life at 11:00 am. Rev. Bill Bradley officiating.
