Although saddened by the news of Hilda's passing I know she had a good life, at least all the years of her life that I was fortunate to have known her. She always brightened my day when we would chat. For those who know me well enough they know that Hilda's late husband "Uncle Al" played a huge role in rounding out my existence as I had no father to help me along the way. And I have got to believe that Hilda played a big part in how Al attacked life so she inadvertently played a part in my upbringing as well. Although there is never a "right time" to let our loved ones go, 90 years is pretty darned good, especially if most of them are lived without immense pain and suffering. As far as legacies go I cannot speak for all of Hilda and Al's children as I did not get to know them as well as I did 2 very special daughters but these are legacies any parents would be proud to call their own. Say "Hey" to Uncle Al for me, Hilda, until we meet again....................Norm

Condolences from Howe Island Bruce and I were so happy that Hilda was able to visit us on Howe Island this past summer. We had a great time visiting with Levi and Rosanna and Lochlan, going to boat rides and lounging around the pool. I sent her some great pictures of her visit. I know she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Sorry we could not attend the funeral. We leave for El Salvadore on Sunday, Jan. 17. Love Dorothy and Bruce

So sorry to hear about your mother's passing. I came home Friday night to my mom in tears. Gertrude Pretty had called to tell her the news and she was devastated. I think they had a friendship that went back over 80 years; mom remembers them going to Sunday School together. The friendship between your mom and dad and mine was a precious one. Lots of good memories. She was a great lady and I know you will miss her greatly. My mom is not able to walk at all now, we are waiting for a nursing home bed. Hilda was a very dear friend. We have known each other for decades and I always enjoyed our visits and will miss her. My sincere condolences to all of the family, especially to my daughter-in-law Carol Ashwell, and grandsons Levi, Aaron and Tyler and my son Tom too. Take care.
