Obituary of John William Weatherby

WEATHERBY- John William Passed away peacefully on January 4, 2010 at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital at the age of 83 years. Reunited with his loving wife Rita (nee Powell) (Sept 30, 2009) with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Loving father to Kevin and wife Donna. Cherished grandfather to Brett, Brandon, Matt, Jason and Joshua. He will be sadly missed by many friends and neighbours. John was a graduate Marine Engineer and served during W.W. II with the R.A.F. He worked at Chryslers for 10 years and during this time he volunteered his time with Riverside Minor Hockey Association where he was a Past President. With his zeal for knowledge , he was a teacher for many years at St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Technology. John never retired, as he enjoyed helping others anywhere he could, working at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home as a greeter, and was a Reiki Master Teacher and Healer. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge (Trinity Lodge #521) for over 50 years. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 from 2 to 5p.m. and 7 to 9pm. Masonic Lodge service Thursday at 7:00pm followed by a Veteran Service under the Auspices of the Windsor Veterans Memorial Services Committee at 7:30pm. Family and friends will be received for visitation on Friday January 8, 2010 at St. Mark's by the Lake Anglican Church (150 St. Mark's St.) (St. Clair Beach) from 10:30am until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.
