Obituary of Sr. Eugene Bachand

BACHAND- Sr. Eugene, R.H.S.J. Sister Eugene Bachand, R.H.S.J. died peacefully at St. Joseph Regional House in Amherstview, Ontario on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Sister was 94 years of age of which 73 years were spent in Religious Life. Sister Bachand was born in Big Point, Ontario the daughter of Heloise Toulouse and Achille Bachand. Sister is predeceased by her parents, brothers Clement, Phillip, and Homer and sisters Dorothy Turton, Aldegonde Vollans, Antoinette LaPorte, Harminoda McKale, Zorraine Bachand, Marie Bachand, and Jeanne Brouseau. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews . Over her long career in Windsor Sister served in a number of capacities at Hotel-Dieu Hospital where she graduated from the School of Nursing in 1943. She was a general duty nurse and later became the Supervisor of the Pediatric Ward and from 1957-1971 worked in the business office at HDH Windsor. Sister Bachand held various positions in administrative roles for the RHSJ Congregation both at the Local Community and the Provincial levels. In 2008 Sister Bachand moved to St. Joseph Regional House in Amherstview, Ontario. Friends & family will be received at Hotel Dieu Chapel 1030 Ouellette Avenue on Wednesday November 25, 2009 from 9am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am followed by Rite of Committal with prayers at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
