Obituary of George Matisz

MATISZ, George 1923-2008 Passed away peacefully on December 20th, 2008 at the age of 85 with his family by his side. Beloved husband for 64 years of Irene (nee Froude). Loving father of Richard Matis (Carolyn), and Linda Reaume (Doug). Cherished grandfather of Christopher Matis (Leigh), Scott Matis (Kelly), Tylene Reaume (Tom), and Brent Reaume (Adrienne). Great-grandfather of Ryley, Mackenzey, Alexandra and Charlotte. Dearest brother of Michael-d. 1981 )(May-d 1959), Alexander-d 1991, Victor-d.2004, Robert (Thelma), Ernie (Maria), Irene (Joe Hutnik-d.2003), Ted (Bertha-d.1988) and Betty (Eddie Rattai). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. George was retired from Chrysler Canada and was a devoted member of CAW Local 444. A special thank you to Ken Lewenza for his recent visit-it was very much appreciated. George and his family would also like to thank the CCAC, their St. Elizabeth nursing team and Antonio from ProResp for the special care they provided this last month and the WRH-Met. 6th floor nurses for comforting his last days. Respecting George's wishes, there will be no visitation and a private family service and burial has taken place. If you so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society or the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by George and his family.
