Obituary of Gerardo Spagnuolo

Spagnuolo Gerardo (Gerry) passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years at Windsor Regional Hospital - Met Campus on January 18, 2025. Son of Alberto (2003) and Virginia (1969) (nee. Caruso) Spagnuolo. Dear husband of Lidia Spagnuolo (nee. Spadafora). Beloved father of Linda (James), Paul, Nadia (Tony), and Dino (Krista). Loving grandfather of Andrea, Leanna, Julia (Ian), Jesse, Amanda (Ayden), and Brooke. Great grandfather of Sophia, Myah, Ayla, Kyrie, Lylah, Miles, and Nolan. Brother of Emma Miceli (late Ernesto), late Teresa Bonofiglio (2018) (late Adolfo), Francesco Spagnuolo (Maria), Ippolito Spagnuolo (Regina), late Pino Spagnuolo (2007), Mario Spagnuolo (Beverly), and Ignazio Spagnuolo (Olga). Brother-in-law of Ernesto Spadafora (Teresa), Teresa Spagnuolo (late Gerardo), late Guido Spadafora (2017) (late Ines), Ida Spadafora. He will forever be missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Born in Sant’lppolito, Cosenza, Italy in 1936, Gerry came to Canada in 1956 where he married Lidia in 1963. After several construction jobs he was hired by Ford Motor Company in 1964 where he remained until his retirement in 1997. He loved to tend to his garden, he took pride in growing his fig trees, but his main hobby and passion was soccer. He played for many years, and also coached the Caboto Club boy’s teams, and the Caboto Specials. In later years, and once his illness progressed, he enjoyed watching his favorite Italian team, Fiorentina. His positive spirit and zest for life was an inspiration until the end. A special thank you to PSWS from Paramed, and caregivers, who took such great care of Gerry. A visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd E. (519-253-7234) on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Parish Prayers at 4:30 p.m. Funeral service on January 24, 2025 at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home then in procession to St Angela Merci Church (980 Louis Ave) for Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
