Obituary of Ernesto Gagliardi

Ernesto Gagliardi of Windsor, Ontario passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, after a wonderful 92 years of life. Ernesto was born on November 15, 1932 in Piane Crati, Italy to the late Stanislao and Erminia Gagliardi also of Piane Crati, Italy. Dear and much loved brother of the late Battista Gagliardi and surviving wife Carmelina of Windsor, the late Antonio and Giulia Gagliardi of Blue Island, Illinois and the late Aldo Gagliardi and surviving wife Caterina of Windsor. Cherished uncle of Maria and husband Ralph Pugliese, Roseanna and husband Carlo Ferrara, Stanley and Ernie Gagliardi, Emilia and husband Jakub Winiarski, Sabrina Gagliardi and many more great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Ernesto retired from National Auto Radiator, Local 195 CAW after 30 years of service.

Ernesto was a man whose heart was as vast as his beautiful garden, where the roses bloomed as brightly as his spirit. His family meant the world to him and he would move mountains for them, always putting their needs above his own. A kind soul, he was endlessly generous offering his time, wisdom and love without hesitation. His home was a sanctuary of warmth and laughter, sharing endless stories of himself, his brothers, cousins and friends. A true gentleman in every sense, he embodied grace, selflessness and a deep abiding love for those lucky enough to know him and to call him Zio Ernesto.

Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel - Central Chapel (1700 Tecumseh Rd. E, 519-253-7234) on Wednesday December 11th 2024 from 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm, with Parish Prayers at 4:30pm. A funeral mass will take place the following day Thursday December 12th 2024 at St Angela Merici Catholic Church (980 Louis Ave) at 11am, with entombment to follow.
