We are truly sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. This poem is especially for Phyllis: My Mother's Face, written by Elaine Aadland In the mirror I see my mother's face. A glimpse A surprise A whisper in the glass. I've never thought we looked alike, Yet here she is. Her face in mine. I wonder, has she been here all along... Hidden beneath my younger skin, beneath a younger self that couldn't, wouldn't see her there? But now, grown woman that I am, I finally understand; At least some small, sweet measure of my mother's grace Has been passed on to me. And what I glimpse in the mirror are traces of her wisdom, spirit, love, faith. This much I own of her. This much I carry on. It lifts me up and comforts me to know that always, In the mirror, I will see my mother's face.
