Obituary of Sidney James Strange

Passed away November 12, 2024 at the Sun Parlor home in Leamington at the age of 81. Cherished youngest son of the late Sidney and Winifred Strange, and dear brother to the late Robert Strange, the late Doreen Trumbley, and the late Winifred Strange. Dear friend to Blair Menard and beloved uncle to Robert Strange, Rebecca Strange and the late Patricia Radford (Strange) . Beloved uncle and mentor to many other nieces and nephews.

“Sid” as he was known to his family and friends was an exceptional, kind, quiet man. He loved the outdoors, taking trips to the Yukon and anywhere else his Winnebago would take him. He devoted his time to being a "Big Brother" who changed the path of many young lives, a phenomenal athlete who speed skated, and was a key member of a Voyageur ice canoe team competing in Quebec for many years. He was an avid canoeist who taught his nieces, nephews and friends' children to skate and ski, inspiring an important love of the outdoors. Sid loved the Windsor Spitfires and had season tickets for many years. He was a retiree from Chrysler in Windsor. He will always be missed and remembered.

Cremation and interment has taken place.

"Do not stand at my grave and weep" by Mary Elizabeth Frye

I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sun on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there; I did not die
