George will be missed . G loved our days we would compete battle sometimes almost fist fight on the court then finish out the game hug laugh about it and continue on with a great friendship. I had the honour to coach Chad in hockey for a few years and enjoy seeing you at the rink and I would brag about how his son is an awesome kid.I would also let Chad he could not compete like his Dad and I .

My condolences to The Copeland Family. George was the sweetest guy!!! We lived next door to him for 15 years, and still remember the ‘Build For George’ event. It was an amazing and humbling experience. My husband and I and our daughters always stopped over to say hi to George and to chat with him whenever we saw him outside. He was always asking the girls how school was, or congratulating them when they graduated, or got new vehicles. He was always so engaging and kind to us all. He will be greatly missed.
Love: The Conflitti Family. Joe, Maria, Julia, Cristina and Victoria

Our condolences to the Copeland Family. We all grew up together. From old memories when kids ran free in the wind. Whether we competed, played basketball or played tag. Everyone knew everyone. From a young age, George was going to be a star. RIP George. From Kitty Kersey, Dean O'Connell and the Kersey Family on Mercer Street.

My condolences to the family on the passing of George. I knew George thru St. Clair basketball and am sadden to learn of his passing. One memory still stands out to me that I will never forget. My father was near the end and in the ICU at the same time as George following his accident. I stopped by one day to see how he was doing. He was more concerned about how my father was and family were holding up instead of himself. Even in his own pain he was still worrying about others. That is a true definition of a man and who he was. May you rest in peace George

It breaks my heart to know that I will never again see George's smiling face or hear his boisterous laugh as he remains one of the most engaging people I have ever met. During our high school days, he was like my brother from another mother and he spent several Christmases at my house, enjoying my mom's good cooking and his personality was such that my mom always looked forward to his visits. We all love you George and we will miss you so much. You touched everyone you knew. You were always so complimentary and your affection for those you cared about was so genuine. Life isn't always fair, but you dealt with the cards you were dealt with, with a humility and courageousness that few of us could pull off. You were one of a kind, my friend. Such a great athlete, a great friend and a protector of so many. I am so sorry I can't be there today and tomorrow - breaks my heart - but I promise to come visit you the next time I'm home and we will talk about our old football days and that 4x100-metre relay team that was blessed with so much speed. I love you my friend and it saddens me that my kids will never get to see you, that they will never get to listen to us reminisce about the good old days, but I will guaratee you this: They will always know about George Copeland. Always. They will know about the man you were and the impact you had on so many. With all my love and tears, enjoy this next journey and keep on smiling. You will be missed. Condolences to his beautiful family and may he rest in peace forever....Bill Montague.

We extend our heartfelt condolences across the miles to the Copeland family, friends, and our dear cousins. George was a special person and the joy he brought to many will never be forgotten. We will forever remember hours spent watching new years day bowl games or late night charades parties; lots of laughs during 3 on 3 tournaments; being fed at the fire hall in between classes at the U; alumni games and all that came with it (!); and most importantly, his strength and determination in the face of adversity. Knowing all too well the mix of emotions and waves of grief with losing a Dad too soon - we are keeping Tira, Max and Chad close in our thoughts and prayers. Much love, Jodi, Anthony (Chooch), Marcus & Isaiah
