Obituary of Joan Mallender
A cherished matriarch and beloved grandmother, passed away peacefully just two days shy of her 94th birthday. She is predeceased by her beloved soulmate David Mallender. She will be forever loved by her children Scott, Craig (Katie), Janet (Kell) and daughter-in-law Corrinne. A cherished grandmother to her darlings Maggie, Jordyn, Jenna, Janyne, Jonah, Rebecca, Jessica, Cailey and Michael. A loving “GG” to nine.
Ahead of her time, Joan was proud of her career as a lab technician. She was an active and vibrant member in her community in South Windsor where she and Dave raised their family. Above all, Joan’s greatest delight were her children and grandchildren filling her life with immense joy. Joan loved watching them pursue whatever brought them happiness whether in sports, academics or simply their everyday interests; she was always their biggest supporter. After retiring to Colchester, Joan and Dave’s love for community and church only grew. Joan had an infectious laugh, great sense of humour and clever wit. Joan's generous nature and welcoming warmth was known for bringing people together and will not be forgotten. Her home was always a gathering place, filled with the joy of family celebrations, holiday traditions, delicious food and countless cherished memories.
Joan enjoyed nothing more than a gathering of friends and family. Please join us to celebrate her life at Essex Golf and Country Club (7555 Matchett Rd.) on Tuesday, October 15th from 3:00pm to 6:00 pm.
