Obituary of Fernando D. Torti
TORTI, Fernando
It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our father Fernando Torti Sr., on October 5, 2024 at the age of 86. Predeceased by parents Federico and Marietta Torti, and infant brother Americo Torti. Beloved husband to Rita Torti. Loving father of Fernando Torti Jr., David & Angela Torti, Cathy & Wendell Evanyk. Loving Nonno of Ryan Evanyk.
Dearly loved brother of Iole Pallisco (2024) and Adriano Torti. Brother-in-law to Antonio Pallisco (2013) and Antonietta Torti. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, France, Italy and USA.
Fernando was born in Atina, Italy and emigrated to Boston at the young age of 17. It was in Boston that he met his beloved wife Rita and started a family. He worked with his brother Adriano, together having commenced Torti Brothers Painters and Contractors. He moved his young family to Canada in 1976 and continued to work as a painter as well as in home construction. He was a retired member of I.U.P.A.T Local 1494 (Windsor).
He enjoyed many happy moments with his family, aunts, uncles and cousins. He always kept his family close to his heart. Many late nights were spent playing Italian card games (Scopa and Briscola). While the games went on through the night, many special memories were being created and cherished. He also loved to be outside and would spend much time tending to his vegetable garden.
We would like to give special thanks to the Personal Support Workers at Banwell Gardens Care Centre who cared for our father throughout his stay. We thank you for the care and compassion you showed him. Thank you to the medical staff at Windsor Regional Hospital - Met Campus for their care during the final days of his life.
