Obituary of Dana Smilev (Nee Prinzevska)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dana (Danica) Smilev, on September 26, 2024, at the age of 79. Dana was born in Carev Dvor, Macedonia on February 5, 1945.

Dana is survived by her sister, Rodna Djelovska, and her brother Nane Prinzevski. She was a cherished mother to Catharina Marentette (D'Arcy) and Bobby Smilev (Diana). Dana took immense joy in her role as Baba to her grandchildren, Kristifor and Stefan Baraslievski, Kylee Marentette, and Marko and Dejan Smilev. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly. Dana was predeceased in death by her parents, Boris and Donka Prinzevski, and her sisters, Pana Kiprevska and Elica Prinzevska.

Dana was a dedicated member of the St. Nicholas Macedonian Community for many years. Dana was passionate about her hobbies which included singing, folklore dancing, baking, knitting, and most importantly, spending quality time with her grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Brouillette Manor, who cared so much for Dana during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Alzheimer's Society of Windsor/Essex Services and Dementia Care in Dana's memory, honoring her compassionate spirit.

A service to celebrate Dana's life will be held at Windsor Chapel (Banwell Chapel), 11677 Tecumseh Rd E, (519)-253-7235 on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Prayers to held at 7:00pm.

Visitation will be continued September 30, 2024, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am. At the families request there will be no formal procession to the funeral service, after morning prayers, everyone is invited to make their way to St. Nicholas Macedonian Church.

Funeral service to be held on Monday, September 30 at St. Nicholas Macedonian Church (5225 Howard Ave) at 11:00 am, with a burial to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
