Obituary of Jerome Emery

EMERY, Jerome

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Jerome Emery on September 9, 2024 at the age of 75. He is reunited with his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 50 years, Barbara Emery (2021).

Also, reunited with his loving parents Ambroise and Ursula Emery and in-laws Roger and Jeannette Sylvestre. Jerome was the devoted father of Michelle Swintak (Doug), supporting her through all moments in life. His granddaughter Emily Swintak, “Boo”, was the light of his life. He adored spending time with her, whether that be through special outings or dancing around the house to their favourite songs. Jerome was Emily’s greatest supporter, playing an active role in helping her to achieve many personal goals and passions. He will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters, Helen Maenpaa (Randy), Richard Emery (Laurie), Janine Arnel (Rick) and Paulette Emery (Brigitte). Predeceased by brother Marcel (1953). Jerome will also be missed by his sister-in-law Nancy Eckert (Rob). Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Special friend to Bella Goyeau.

Jerome enjoyed a long and successful career as manager of Plant and Operations for the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board and the Conseil Scolaire du Sud-Ouest, where he enjoyed contributing to a positive environment and building friendships.

In his spare time, Jerome loved to restore antique and classic wooden boats, as well as build replicas. He was a master of the trade. Through this hobby he became a member of the Antique and Classic Boat Society – Michigan Charter, where many lifelong friendships were made.

Jerome loved nothing more than connecting with his family, friends, and neighbours. He loved to converse with those around him – creating plenty of memories along the way. He made new friends everywhere he went – always willing to offer a helping hand. Jerome truly lived a wonderful life, he loved with all of his heart.

Special thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, psw’s, occupational, respiratory, and physio therapists that have worked with Jerome over the past year and a half. Your outstanding care and kindness will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – Banwell Location, 11677 Tecumseh Rd.
