Obituary of Mary Porter
It is with sorrow mingled with joy that we announce the promotion of Mary Porter (nee Hawkins) on August 27th, 2024 into Glory. Mary is with her Saviour Jesus who she loved and followed during her 96 years on earth. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 58 years, Bill Porter (2009). Mary was the proud mother of 3 red headed daughters, Beth Mingay (Peter), Jillian Turner (Don) and Margaret Savage (John). She was the ever present and prayerful grandmother to Aaron (Katie), Matthew, Jordan (Sarah), Lauren (Ben), Caitlin (Baylor), Victoria (Tim), Christian (Danielle), Benjamin (2022), Jonathan (Sarah) and Nathan (Julia). Her legacy continues on in her now 19 great grand children. Mary was born in Windsor, Ontario Nov 5, 1927 and graduated as an RN from Grace Hospital in 1950. She worked for 37 years as a public health nurse. Mary endured the loss of her mother and both her siblings Shirley and McGrath in her early 40’s and leaned on her faith to endure these hard times. She was a kind and dependable presence to those whom knew and loved her. We are so thankful to have enjoyed her love, quick wit and steadfast faith until the end. The family would like to thank the staff at Chartwell Oak Park LaSalle for all their support and care. A private family memorial to be held at a later date.
