Obituary of Branko Tomicic

TOMICIC, Branko May 21, 1940 - July 24, 2024 In memory of a loving husband, father and amazing Papa. Married for 58 years to a loving and devoted wife, Caroline (nee Peris). Son of Stjepan and Ana Tomicic (Mracin, Croatia). Son-in-law to Nick and Mary Peris. Father to Ann Marie Silva and Carolin Tomicic. Papa to Victoria (Shane) Beausoleil, Nicholas Silva and Katherin Silva. Great-Papa to Amelia and Eleanor Beausoleil. He enjoyed being a brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, god-father, kumovi and friend to many here and in Croatia. All of whom held a special place in his heart. Branko worked 25 years at Dominion Forge. He then worked 15 years as a construction labourer, starting at Elmara Construction and retiring at Front Construction. Branko was a hard working man and a provider to his family. He was a caring, compassionate, and gentle man with faith. His smile made you smile. Branko would help anyone and everyone with the expectation of nothing in return. He was proud of his Croatian heritage and family traditions. Branko made his own wine and was famous for his kobasa. One of his greatest joys was entertaining in his home with a welcoming shot of brandy, food and conversation. Branko enjoyed watching sports (hockey, wrestling, curling, soccer), Bonanza and getting into uncontrollable laughing fits with the Three Stoogees. Branko was a member of the Laborers Union, Liuna local 625 and St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church. Thank you to Aspen Lake for the long-term care he received. Most importantly to all the staff (and the special ones - you know who you are). We could not have done this without you. To the residents and their families - thank you. Especially David (eating partner), Walter (his roommate) and Natalia (watched over him day and night). To his doctors that cared for him throughout the years. Dr. J.L. Dodick (the true definition of a family doctor), Dr. P.A. Bekasiak, Dr. S.Oleksiuk (hearing), Dr. J. DeRose (so patient with all his dentistry needs), Dr. R. Biswas (Geriatric care) and Dr. Millicent Vorkapich-Hill and Dr. James Hill (podiatry care). Visitation at Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East 519-253-7234 on Sunday July 28, 2024 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Prayers Sunday at 7:30pm followed by family eulogy. Funeral service on Monday July 29, 2024 at 9:45am from the funeral home then in procession to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church (1701 Turner Rd. Windsor) for a Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Internment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Branko's life, memorial donations may be made to Diabetes Wellness Centre (Windsor), Robarts School for the Deaf (London) and Zupa Novigrad Na Dobri (Childhood Church in Croatia).
