Obituary of Giuseppe Lombardo
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Giuseppe Lombardo at the age of 71. He is reunited with his parents Antonio and Margherita (nee Iaquinta) Lombardo. Beloved brother of the late Vincenza (late Vincenzo) Gualtieri, Antonia (late Antonio) Iaquinta, the late Marisa (late Antonio) Secreti, the late Rosanna (1956), Filomena (Joe) Ambrosio, Lucia (Pino) Oliverio, the late Clorinda Pulice, and the late Vincenzo (Debbie) Lombardo. Beloved and cherished Nonno to Joey and Stella, who were his pride and joy. He loved playing hockey and soccer with them, and enjoyed their Tim Horton’s dates. Giuseppe will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, USA, and Italy, as well as by his many friends in his apartment building who treated him like family.
Giuseppe was born in San Giovanni in Fiore, and arrived in Canada with his family in 1967. He worked at Chrysler for over 30 years. Giuseppe was a proud member of the Giovanni Caboto Club. He loved to play at his weekly card games. Anyone who knew him always said he had a great sense of humour, and was a man who made everyone laugh. His infectious laugh will be missed the most.
The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Wheels of Hope, the cancer clinic, Dr Matthews, and all the nurses on staff on the 3rd floor of the Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare - Y Emara Building, who took such wonderful care of Giuseppe and made him feel comfortable in his final days. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Transition to Betterness.
