Obituary of Suzanne Garneau
I, Suzanne (Sue) Garneau (nee Venney), passed with faith into the waiting arms of God on June 10, 2024, after a long and joy-filled life. With loving appreciation for the precious gift of my husband Dan, who has enriched every moment of my life since the day we met, and whose constant support was an incredible blessing. I regretfully leave my beloved children, Christopher (Carla), Stephanie (Patrick), and Carolyn and my amazing grandchildren, Alexandre and Madeleine. Each one of you have brought more joy to my life than you can ever know! Please be assured that the love I have for each of you will not diminish with my passing into the next life.
With deep love and appreciation for my extended family, including my mother, Marilyn Venney, my sister, Sara Venney, my brother, Jim Venney (Alma), my sisters-in-law Gisele Warren, Jackie Jubenville (2019) (Rick), and brothers-in-law Richard (Janey), Mark (Sandy), Pete (Kelly), and Marcel Garneau, as well as my many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by father, Lawrence Venney (2000), sister, Mary Venney (1980), mother- and father-in law, Gertrude (2003) and Hector Garneau (2010), and stepfathers Claude Vincent (1996) and Bill Hoy (2022).
With sincere thanks to my dear friends, as well as to the colleagues and students who enriched my personal and professional life with the WECDSB and Kent Catholic school board in my years as a teacher and consultant.
As a life-long Catholic and active member of Most Precious Blood Parish, I have had the pleasure of developing many faith-based friendships and have received blessings from many wonderful priests over the years. (Special thanks to Father Greg Bonin and Father Larry Brunet).
You have all had a very special part in the wonderful journey that has been my life, and I thank each one of you from the bottom of my heart!
Sue will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was a talented person, including being an avid knitter, singer, sewer, artist, reader, card player and puzzler. She took great joy in spending time with her amazing grandkids. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and family, traveling both near and far. She especially found joy in the time she spent with her family at Obatanga. She was a considerate, intelligent, thoughtful and caring person, and she was a constant source of unwavering love and support for her family.
We often hear about the flaws in our health system, but we can honestly say that we feel the following teams went above and beyond in their care for Sue: WRCC, Windsor Regional Met, LIHN, and Hospice of Windsor-Essex. We'd especially like to thank Dr. Nicholas Paquette for all his care and support over the years.
