Obituary of Kathleen Dwyer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Kathy (nee Ridley) on Friday May 31st, at the young age of 66 years, after a short, unexpected illness. Greeting her at Heaven’s gate are her parents Kathleen and Thomas Ridley and Catherine and Edward Dwyer, brothers Tommy, John and sisters Connie Farrand and Pauline Ridley. Kathy will be forever missed by her husband and best friend of 48 years, Martyn. Loved forever and missed for eternity by daughter Kaitlyn and feline companion, Kitty. Kathy is survived by sisters Eva, Alice, Diane, Sharon and brother Michael. Much loved Godmother of Stride, Cory and John. Kathy worked in real estate for 35 years, but her biggest legacy will always be her kind heart. Kathy brightened up the days of so many people with her infectious smile and kindness while working behind the cash register at the Devonshire Mall Dollarama. Kathy was her happiest when she was cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs, going for walks with her daughter and sitting on the front porch with a cup of tea. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at both Met and Ouellette Campus ICU department for the incredible care and compassion they showed during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to Knobby’s Kids Hockey and Skating Program or Kittenaide. Visitation will be held on Friday June 7th at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home, 1700 Tecumseh Road E from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. A private cremation will follow. The family invites you to wear your favourite hockey jersey or sports attire to honour Kathy’s love for hockey!
