Obituary of James (Jim) Gerassimou
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Jim (James) Gerassimou, on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the age of 68.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Edoxia, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge. Jim was the adored father of William (Angela), John, and Christopher, who were the light of his life.
He will be deeply missed by his brother and closest friend, John (Frederica), and his sister Sheila Rowland (Denis), with whom he shared cherished moments. Jim will also be remembered fondly by his step brothers Sav Hagidiakow (Carol), Frank Hagidiakou (Patsy), the late Tom Hagidiakow (Wendy), stepsister Maria Keperis (Mike), as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.
Jim is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Effie Hagidiakou (2021), and his father, Bill Gerassimou (1960), whose spirit will forever watch over him.
Jim was a man of many talents and passions. Whether he was working at Ford, walking the dog around the neighborhood, or spending time with his family taking trips or coaching his son's sports teams, he approached everything with enthusiasm and a deep sense of purpose. His kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A private family celebration will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society in Jim's memory.
