My deepest condolence to Beverly and Ruth. My very best wishes to Beverly and I wish you a very happy life and a many wondrous life events. I met John in the 90’s working on his farm as students from another country, we helped building and renovating his farm house, helped with planting on the strawberry fields, helped opening the gate for the sheep’s on his sheep farm. Later we drove up to the hospital to greet the birth of baby Beverly!. While driving up we saw all the horses, cows and sheep’s went up a hill by the road side on Highway 11 and John commented “everybody wants to get to the top.” John was overjoyed when Beverly was born. John was warm, very humorous and kind hearted. John is also a free spirit, I learnt so much from his book collections, “lucid dreaming” and “the whole earth catalogue”, how to cook efficiently (mostly everything in the oven, but it was an eye opener for me). It snowed on the 1st of May when we reach John’s farm, we have a can of coke left in the car, it burst and spray all other the interior of the colt. The next night I sudden woke up mid night to hear what seemed like someone shouting loudly, I later found out was John blasting Bob Dylan songs , and many more nights, it took sometimes to get used to Dylan and later on I too became a fan. Sundridge is cold. After a summer, when the first cold air arrive you put on the hot air when driving a car in the morning, moss and debris shoot up from the vent because the mouse had been building a nest inside. John talks about his parent’s family business and how they use hot stream to sterile the bed for planting flower and staff, when I mistaken alstroemeria as freesia, so he corrected me. Ruth talks about walking in the forest surveying the forest and her friend use a stick to beat a fallen tree trunk and one of them bend over to see a bear sleeping in there and they all run for their life. One day I found blue berries growing wild in the bush walk, I ate a lot on the field plus pick some home, later I had a big bellyache John and neighbour Janet said the blue berries has a coating they must be washed before eating. And they said did you look out for bear poop if you see them you have to leave quickly. I did not know any of these! I have a very happy memory of John and family while living up there, and I am very delighted and feel very happy for Beverly is a very lucky girl to have a dad like John.
Any Beverly should you want to come over to visit Sydney Australia I can help arrange stay and take you around.
